Fabio Püntener and Ramona Forchini are targeting the overall classification of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup 2025
The 2025 MTB season is heading towards a thrilling finale: after the World Championships in Valais and the World Cup in Lenzerheide, another highlight awaits on the national stage. On September 27 and 28, the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup will see its final start in Gränichen (AG). Ramona Forchini is aiming for her first overall victory among the elite women since 2019. In the elite men’s field, Switzerland’s two breakthrough riders of the year, Luca Schätti and Fabio Püntener, will be on the start line.

Luca Schätti (Bixs Performance Race Team) caused a stir at the home World Championships in Crans-Montana: he missed out on a medal by just millimetres and finished a strong fourth place as the best Swiss rider. He also showed great consistency in the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup, collecting several podium finishes. With a win in Gränichen, the 25-year-old Zurich native could secure the overall title of the country’s biggest racing series for the first time.
However, the best position for the overall victory belongs to Fabio Püntener. The rider from Uri heads into the season finale with two wins and a second place in this year’s Cup, giving him a comfortable lead. For him, as for Schätti, it would be a first overall title in the elite category.
Ramona Forchini targets second overall title after 2019
In the battle for the overall crown, Ramona Forchini (Bixs Performance Race Team) is in the spotlight. The Cup leader and overall winner in 2019 is determined to reclaim the title six years after her first triumph. Her teammate Seraina Leugger also has strong chances, having delivered impressive results on multiple occasions this season. Additional competition will come from Canada’s Emily Johnston (Scott-Sram), Italy’s Giada Specia (KTM Factory MTB Team), and British champion Isla Short (GBR), all of whom are aiming for a race win in Gränichen.
At the last minute, Alessandra Keller had to withdraw from the start. The Nidwalden rider has been making headlines in recent weeks with World Championship gold in the Short Track, a podium finish in Crans-Montana, and a historic World Cup victory in Lenzerheide.
“The past few weeks have been incredibly intense. The commitments around the home World Championships and the World Cup in Lenzerheide have taken a lot of energy. At the same time, my chances for a top overall finish in the World Cup are excellent. Therefore, my support team and I have made the difficult decision to skip the race in Gränichen and focus fully on the final two World Cup rounds,” she explained.
Open Situation in the Kids Categories
In Gränichen, the overall standings will be decided across 20 categories. Particularly exciting: according to the regulations, the final race cannot be used as a scratch result – meaning that every single point could prove decisive in the fight for the overall titles.
In the junior categories from U9 to U17, everything is still wide open. Not only are podium finishes on the line, but also the coveted tickets to the “Swiss Bike Cup Champions Camp.” The most successful riders of each age group will earn an invitation to this exclusive mountain bike camp in Lenzerheide.
More than 600 participants are expected in Gränichen, including many members of the host club RC Gränichen. Registration remains open until September 21, 2025, with no late entry fees.

Pfüderi race with like-a-bike and pedal bike on Sunday afternoon
In Gränichen, there is also the opportunity for the youngest to get a taste of racing this year. On Sunday, September 28 at 11:45 a.m., the “Pfüderi” race presented by Raiffeisen will take place. Children born in 2020 can participate with a like-a-bike or a pedal bike. It is not necessary to register in advance — it is carried out directly on site.

Jaison Kids Bikes presented several highlights at the World Championships in Crans-Montana. The new hardtail mountain bikes impress with fresh designs. The weight of the bikes is still unbeatable. The current Endgame Custom is available starting at 8.4 kg.
Particularly exciting: Full suspension models from Jaison were presented for the first time, which will be on the market in spring 2026. Test rides can already be arranged and pre-orders placed — a perfect time to secure the first generations of the Jaison Showtime.
Jaison's latest bikes can be tested in Gränichen on Saturday, September 27.
