Fabio Püntener and Ramona Forchini start as favorites at the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup in Savognin

On May 30–31, the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup will take place in Savognin, in the canton of Graubünden. In the elite men’s race, Fabio Püntener (Scott-SRAM MTB Racing), the current world number one, will start as the favorite. In the elite women’s race, Ramona Forchini (BIXS Race Team), last year’s overall winner of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup, is aiming for her first victory of the season. Forchini already proved that the course suits her in 2022, when the rider from eastern Switzerland claimed the win.

U23 Race Promises Exciting Outlook
The Swiss U23 women are in strong form. Elina Benoit (Lexware Mountainbike Team) secured second place at the season opener in South Korea. Fiona Schibler (Bike Team Solothurn) finished sixth in the same race. Completing the list of favorites is Anina Hutter (Nexetis). The rider from Graubünden heads into the race in Savognin as the current cup leader.

In the U23 men’s category, Leon Fischer (Rose Bike Schweiz Factory Team) is in excellent shape. The rider from Lucerne impressed with a top-15 result at the first World Cup of the season.

UCI Junior Series with Swiss Favorite
The U19 races in Savognin are classified as part of the UCI Junior Series, equivalent to a World Cup level for junior riders. In the U19 women’s race, the clear favorite is a Swiss rider: Anja Grossmann (Trinity Racing) is currently the undisputed number one in the U19 world rankings. Grossmann also became Swiss champion in both XCC and XCO in Savognin last year. The physically demanding course appears to suit the young rider from Lucerne well.

In the U19 men’s race, two Dutch riders will start from the front row: Daan Bakelaar and Cas Timmermans are not only compatriots but also teammates, riding for Team Cube Next Gen. The pair will face strong international competition.

Registrations without late entry fees are still open until Sunday.
