Püntener and Forchini triumph in Savognin

On the demanding course in Savognin, Fabio Püntener and Ramona Forchini claimed victory in the elite races of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup. The men’s race, in particular, was a spectacle right to the very end.

The elite men’s race kept spectators on edge until the final corner. Fabio Püntener (Scott-Sram MTB Racing), Marcel Guerrini (BIXS Race Team), and Luca Schätti (BIXS Race Team) engaged in an exciting three-way battle from the very start. The decision only came in the final lap, when Püntener seized an opportunity in the technical zone to pass his rivals. In the subsequent forest descent, the current world number one opened a gap that he maintained all the way to the finish. Guerrini finished second, eight seconds behind, ahead of Schätti in third.
“It was anything but a gifted win—it was a tough fight that was really fun. I’m happy it worked out, especially since it’s my first victory of the season,” said Püntener.

In the women’s race, Ramona Forchini (BIXS Race Team) set the tone early. The overall winner of the 2025 Škoda Swiss Bike Cup broke away from her competitors in the second lap and steadily increased her lead. At the finish line, she was 1:58 minutes ahead of Rebekka Estermann. Emilly Johnston (Scott-Sram MTB Racing) completed the podium in third place.
“The Savognin course is physically tough with its steep climbs—made even harder by the high temperatures. But I quickly felt that I had good legs and was able to maintain my pace,” said Forchini.

Strong Swiss performances in the junior races

The U19 races were held as part of the UCI Junior Series. In the men’s junior race, Dutch rider Cas Timmermans (Cube Factory Racing) secured a commanding victory. Behind him, Swiss riders delivered strong performances, filling places two through seven. Joel Stoffel (Thömus – Young) finished second ahead of Men Gygax (Bike Team Solothurn).

In the women’s junior race, Anja Grossmann (Trinity Racing) was in a class of her own. The U19 European champion won with a clear margin over Mariachiara Signorelli (Speed Bike Rocks) and Lou-Anne Halter (KA BOOM – Raceteam).

Halter siblings win in the U23 category

In the U23 men’s category, Nicolas Halter (Thömus Akros – Youngstars) celebrated a convincing victory. His teammate Loris Hättenschwiler (Thömus Akros – Youngstars) finished second, ahead of Germany’s Niklas Franz (Stop&Go Marderabwehr MTB Team).

In the women’s U23 race, Monique Halter (Thömus Akros – Youngstars) triumphed ahead of Fiona Schibler (Bike Team Solothurn) and Mara Winter (NEXETIS).

The Škoda Swiss Bike Cup will continue from July 17 to 19 in Leysin, where the Swiss championship titles in short track (XCC) and cross-country (XCO) will be awarded in the Vaud mountain village.
