Saisonauftakt am Monte Tamaro findet auf EM-Strecke statt

The 33rd season of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup kicks off on 21 and 22 March 2026 at the foot of Monte Tamaro in Rivera. This traditional race promises top-class mountain bike action with international stars such as French rider Loana Lecomte, her compatriot Jordan Sarrou, and world number one Fabio Püntener. Local favourite Filippo Colombo from Ticino will also line up in front of his home crowd.

March 12, 2026

The Velo Club Monte Tamaro, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, will deliver several mountain bike highlights in 2026. In addition to the annual Tamaro Trophy, the Mountain Bike Cross-Country European Championships will also take place on the well-known course from 29 July to 2 August 2026.

Filippo Colombo targets podium finish at his home race
In the men’s elite race at the Tamaro Trophy, local hero Filippo Colombo can count on the support of the home crowd. The 28-year-old is a member of VC Monte Tamaro and has known the course perfectly since his childhood. Excitement is guaranteed: with strong international competition led by current world number one Fabio Püntener (Scott-Sram), French rider Jordan Sarrou (Team BMC), as well as the Swiss teams Thömus Maxon and BIXS Race Team, the race is completely open. 🚵‍♂️

Loana Lecomte makes her comeback
In the women’s elite race, the spotlight is particularly on Loana Lecomte (Team BMC). The French rider, who has 36 World Cup podium finishes, was forced to abandon her race early at the World Championships in Crans-Montana last season and has not competed since. She will now return to the start line in Switzerland and immediately counts among the favourites again.

Nicole Koller (Lapierre PXR Racing) is also among the favourites. The rider from Zurich is currently ranked sixth in the world rankings and has already won an HC race this season in Banyoles, Spain.

International talents line up at the Tamaro Trophy
The youth categories are a central part of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup and hold an important place in the programme. In the U19 UCI Junior Series (World Cup), numerous national teams are expected to compete at the Tamaro Trophy. The U17 and U15 categories make up the largest share of participants and promise intense battles at the front.

The level of youth mountain biking in Switzerland is high and characterised by great depth of talent — one of the reasons why many international young riders will also line up at the start in Rivera. 🚵‍♀️
