Luca Schätti (BIXS Race Team) delivered a strong performance at the season finale of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup in Gränichen. The rider from Eastern Switzerland broke away from his rivals on the opening lap and went on to claim an uncontested start-to-finish victory on the technically demanding course. With his win, Schätti overtook previous overall leader Fabio Püntener, who did not compete in Gränichen, and secured the overall Škoda Swiss Bike Cup title for the first time.
“I didn’t even know before the race that I still had a chance of winning the overall title. That makes me even happier now. I felt strong today and was able to ride my own race,” said the overall winner afterwards. Marcel Guerrini (BIXS Race Team) and Joris Ryf (Specialized Factory Racing) completed the podium behind Schätti. Guerrini ultimately missed out on the overall title by just two points to Schätti.
Koller leaves nothing to chance
Nicole Koller also left nothing to chance at the season finale. The Swiss Cross-Country Champion moved to the front early on and controlled the race all the way to the finish. With her victory, Koller also defended her lead in the overall standings and secured the overall series title.
“Winning the overall title is very cool and shows how consistent I have been throughout this season. As a Škoda driver, it is even cooler to win this race series,” said Koller.
Lia Schrievers (KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team) finished second, while Noelle Buri (UNNO Factory Racing) took third place.
Grossmann’s impressive winning streak
In the U23 categories, Niklas Franz (STOP&GO Marderabwehr MTB Team) and Fiona Schibler (Bike Team Solothurn) took the victories. Both also secured the overall titles with their success in Gränichen.
Joel Stoffel (Thömus - Young) and Anja Grossmann (TRINITY Racing) were crowned overall winners in the U19 categories. Particularly impressive: Grossmann won every junior women’s race of this year’s Škoda Swiss Bike Cup. Stoffel finished fourth in Gränichen, where Marwan Karim Barhoumi (Pédale Bulloise) claimed a dominant victory.
