Sina Frei and Luca Schätti Crowned Swiss Short Track Champions
Sina Frei and Luca Schätti claimed the titles at the Swiss Short Track Championships. For both riders, it is their first national title in the elite category.

It was the expected tactical race in the women’s elite category at this year’s Swiss Short Track Championships, held on Friday evening in Savognin as part of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup. The strong field, featuring all of Switzerland’s top riders, stayed tightly packed for most of the race. Only in the final lap did Sina Frei (Specialized Factory Racing) and Ronja Blöchlinger (Liv Factory Racing) increase the pace. In the end, Frei prevailed in the sprint, celebrating her first elite national title. Defending champion Nicole Koller (Ghost Factory Racing) finished third.“I enjoy these intense races and I’m happy to have won the gold medal here. It gives me great motivation for the upcoming races,” said Sina Frei.
Schätti defeats Püntener
In the men’s race, Luca Schätti (BIXS Performance Race Team) claimed victory with a four-second lead over Fabio Püntener (Bike Team Solothurn). Both riders, who have been showing strong performances this season, engaged in a high-level duel starting from the penultimate lap – with Schätti ultimately coming out on top.“The course suited me well with the climb, and I was able to take advantage of that,” said Schätti. The bronze medal went to Timon Rüegg (BIXS Performance Race Team).
First Champions Crowned in U23 and U19 Categories
For the first time, Swiss Short Track champions were crowned in the U23 and U19 categories.In the U23 women’s race, Anina Hutter (Nexetis) took the gold medal ahead of Monique Halter (Thömus Akros) and Lea Huber (Nexetis).Among the men, Finn Treudler (Cube Factory Racing) claimed a commanding victory over Nicolas Halter (Thömus Akros) and Khalid Sidahmed (Scott Davos MTB Project).In the U19 category, Joel Fluri (Bike Team Solothurn) and Anja Grossmann (Specialized Junior Team Switzerland) secured the gold medals. Silver went to Noah Schnyder and Tess de Almeida (Thömus Young), while bronze was claimed by Dario Rohn (Bike Team Solothurn) and Lou-Anne Halter (Ka Boom – Raceteam).

The battle for the titles continues on Saturday
On Saturday, the fight for the Swiss national jersey in Cross-Country will take place in Savognin. The country’s top riders—both women and men—will line up together at the start.In the men’s race in particular, the stage is set for an exciting showdown: this season’s breakout rider, Fabio Püntener, is set to challenge seasoned veterans Nino Schurter and Mathias Flückiger.
